First of all, impose right control on more serious issues, such as real guns and drugs, which cause a lot of troubles to a contemporary society. Airsoft is just a hobby and a sport of a bunch of responsible people. Leave it alone!

The implimentation of the vcr bill as it stands is wholely non-constructive. It will have very little effect on the criminal fraternity and anti social behavoir. It will however punish law abiding members of the public who merely want to participate in a healthy and safe sport.

cant we just have red tips like in america, because i dont care if its got a red bit on and no one else should unless they need it to look real i.e for crime.
lets reach a compromise, as an outright ban would be unreasonable

In my opinion this sport should not be banned, for the simple reason that this like paintballing, snowboarding and many other minority sports is extremely safe. The safety protocles and precedues are throughro and as a result there are few deaths (although a few injuries do happen, they are part and parcel of the fun!). So the reason for banning this sport seems a bit whimscle really, it appears to be a vague attempt at winning a few votes at alot of peoples expense. Surely the amount of jobs lost by the ban would be reason enough not to enforce the ban, but the chances are that this like everything else, will become illegal, and therefore give the police something else to piss an moan about because obviously, everyone will still want to take part in this hobby. So like Hong Kong an underground system will emerge an the police will have to waste more money and resources hunting people (who are mearly taking part in a hobby they enjoy) for airsoft equipment, rather then doing their jobs and hunting real crimenals like the london bombers, or even better preventing another incident like that one.

Banning airsoft because of the few incidents regarding air rifles and lax restrictions on them is silly and quite frankly a knee jerk re-action. It seems the banning is more to do with the image of the government rather than stopping the few idiots that taint the sensible majority. I feel for the people in the U.K that have made this sport their livelyhood.

This is appaling! How can the government feel it has a right to say what sports people can and cannot do? It got rid of pistols and yet more pistols are being obtained illegally than ever befor, more people are dieing because of pistols and all because it is no longer propparly and legaly regulated. Imagain what people would say if we tried to ban football, cricket or polo for all those toffs? there would be a public outcry, the only reason they are doing this is because some old lady feels intimidated by the local kids, and the only reason they can pull off a ban is because airsoft is a minority sport. I think we sould organize a few MPs to come to a skirmish, could be interesting and then they would have an oppertunity to see how things are run and controlled

If Dr Peter Marsh, from the Social Issues research centre in Oxford is outraged by the lack of risk and excitement in our cotton-wool based and mollycoddled society; then how would he evaluate the banning of a perfectly safe, controlled and recreational hobby as Airsofting. Think about it. If you want to control weapons then dont as part of your 'ethical' joke of a forign policy sell stockpiles of arms to Indonesia.

banning alcohol in the US did not work, banning handguns in this country did not work...what make the Labour party think that banning replicas and criminalising our hobby would result in a reduction in violent behaviour in this country?

Airsoft is a sport, we are responsble people who would never dream of letting our equipment fall ino the hand of anyone who would do wrong with it. This is a gross injustice, one group of re-enactors is getting exempted while another is being activly destroyed.

Look, airsoft is a great sport that, I think, helps build qualities like trust and teamwork. Also, it gets kids (and adults for that matter) of their lazy butts and gets them outside doing something fun. Banning airsoft is dumb. Most people make sure their battles are held away from the public and many of them are on private property anyways.
Bottom line, banning airsoft would make lots of us VERY unhappy people.

Quite simply, it is highly unnecessary to ban this sport. If this ban is carried forward then there will be a lot of disappointment for the sensible airsofters out there. We are in a safe and controlled environment and we make sure that all games are done with caution. Unfortunately there are people who seem to abuse this sport in an incorrect manner and can commit crimes that is persuading the 'against' part in the banning of this hobby that we take part in. We don't want to be let down by inconsiderate people who don't act safely when around airsoft equipment. We have taken time into improving and buying our airsoft guns, and to hear that there may be a ban of some sort makes us feel annoyed when it comes down to very low people using bb guns for criminal offences. I dearly hope that our sport isn't affected in the manner of a ban because I and my fellow airsoft friends like to take part in this sport greatly.

Dont spoil the sport of many peaple in the uk just because of a few who dont know how to behave! That would be like banning football because of the few who cause trouble at matches and the such like! It doesnt make sense!!!!!!!

Airsoft is a safe sport if in a controlled enviroment. People who buy the weapons for stupid stuns on the UK streets is unacceptable. I hope this partion will be of us to save our hobby.

Airsofters are mostly(99%) innocent and so is the sport but yet your banning it. Knives do kill and yet dodgy shops can sell these to thugs who are the reckless lot.

Targeting the law abiding majority of airsofters who are aware of the current law`s is madness. Because of a few mindless idiots, who will not be changed by this act, the vast majority will be punished. Way to go Tony Blair.

OMG! Only morons would ban airsoft! Me and my friends used 2 be lazy couch poitatoes on saturdays, and now we wake up at five and spend the whole day playing. We've been into airsoft for about 2 years now, and we save every penny to buy better guns and all. I can't believe people think Airsoft is dangerous. The only people who should fear airsoft is... well no one! the worst that can happen if your playing safely is a welt.and they're pretty cool battle scars! so c'mon people, only take away airsoft if you want to lose young childrens dreams to join the Army. Because right now, we're training for boot camp, and then... THE MILITARY!!!!! But, if you takie away airsoft, as you're punishment, we're not joining the military, and you would lose hundreds of new recruits so you'd suffer. think about that, poo flingers.

this would be such a huge mistake to continue with the section 30 of the vcr bill,
if they need to ban any thing then let them bag hand guns, as these are the main problem with "kids" sodding about with "guns" on ower streets,
i,v been involved with airsoft, firearms etc for a very long time, and beleve this to be the right and approparait this to do, you dount see scool kids with larger air soft guns in the street do you, just hand guns,

I cannot express my anger that this is even being considered. Airsoft is kept under controlled environments, the few that take these low power replica's into there own hands causing havoc is just as when we look at Driving cars- you need a driving licence to drive legally- like playing airsoft at a controlled site then you have the people that drive it without licences and a percentage of them i can imagine run havoc around the roads. But your not going to ban driving but yet you are so keen to stamp your foot on airsoft. Just because you don't play it yourself doesn't mean it isn't important. There are lost of factors that need to be considered and you havn't thought them through.

I'm against this law completely and will continue to fight against it. I've e-mailed my local MP four times and I've e-mailed the home office about my anger towards the VCR bill.Plus I urge everyone to show support for this fight, not just airsoft. There is know word of a ban of knife sales on the internet. So I urge all collecters of airsoft guns, knives and swords to sign this petition and e-mail MP's, because if this becomes law they will attack other things. So show your support and stop the government from solving problems with the quick fix. There is a problem with armed crimes but outright banning is not a fair solution. And thanks to everyone at save airsoft, your helping us keep our sport. Keep up the good work

If you Ban airsoft. Well we will just have to get real guns...
You wouldnt want that would you?
Think for just this once Mr Blair...
Leave the sport and finish what you started with the fox hunting...
Also This INTERNET TAX idea you have... Lose it lose it now! If you dont one of two things will happen... We will riot and ill be at the front of that crowd or we will just mass exit the country.
Stop Fecking with the law... In fact stop fecking with the goverment... Sod off all to gether infact.

As a leading member in an online gaming clan I am shocked to see that a sport many of our members play is at threat, this is again a badly constructed and rushed bill that has had so little thought put into it I am amazed it got through the first sitting let alone 3! Do they really think this will stop people getting hold of the replica weapons they are trying to ban? Handguns are illegal and yet their sale still carries on, I just hope the goverment see the error in their way and make Organised Airsoft an exception to the rule.

The sport of airsoft is a fun and exciting sport and should not be ruined by a small minority of people who, by their actions have brought the goverment to this position that will make it virtualy impossable to continue to play our much enjoyed sport.

I can see why Airsoft is frowned upon by the uninitiated (my parents took some convincing!) But an outright ban is certainly a "sledge hammer to crack a walnut". Restrictions and tighter control is one (good) thing, but an outright ban on imports and sales is totally out of proportion, and certain to kill a legitimate sport. Airsoft, and the airsoft players, deserve a better deal.
